Future Vision
We conduct global activities related to the advancement and development of automotive technology and academic research, and contribute broadly to society through exchange, collaboration, and training of automotive engineers and researchers.
We will timely incorporate the latest automotive technologies into each of our business operations.
Looking ahead to the next 10 years, a period of significant social and environmental transformation surrounding automobiles, we will further invigorate our business activities by promptly reflecting the latest automotive technologies in our technical department activities, publications, awards, and automotive technology exhibitions.
Reflecting advanced technologies originating in Japan in international standardization.
We will develop strategies for new standardization and establish and solidify a system for collaborating with overseas standards and standardization organizations.
We will continue to promote international activities and enhance our international presence.
We will strengthen our relationships with FISITA, various SAE countries, and APAC regions, and continue to demonstrate leadership in the Asian region by expanding international conferences.
To revitalize human resource development and social contribution activities, and to further enhance member services.

2050 Challenge Declaration
As Japan's only academic organization related to automobiles, JSAE is committed to promoting world-leading research in automotive technology and fostering the human resources needed to address the challenges predicted by 2050.
Furthermore, leveraging the unique characteristics of this organization, we will provide a platform for open innovation in collaboration with industry, academia, and government, and expand into new technological fields, improve quality, and proactively and boldly tackle new challenges.
back ground
JSAE formulated its future activity guidelines as a "Future Vision" in 2011 and published it in 2012. Last year, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the organization's founding, we completely revised this and compiled a new vision and roadmap as the "2050 Challenge."
This guideline incorporates, as much as possible, future technologies such as electrification, autonomous driving, communications, and AI, as well as social and market trends, and serves as a guide for the organization's activities aimed at solving social challenges surrounding future mobility. It also serves as a guideline for activities aimed at enhancing the presence of the Japanese automotive industry through the proactive dissemination of new technologies.
We hope that the "2050 Challenge" will provide valuable insights to many people involved in the automotive industry, strengthen collaborative relationships across various technological fields, and contribute to the further development of the automotive industry.

Technology Roadmap
In April 2026, the 48 Technical Committee under the Technology Board revised its technology roadmap for the first time in eight years. As outlined in the revised Technology Board roadmap, the technology fields have been reorganized into four areas: "Transportation Systems," "Powertrains," "Vehicle Component Technologies," and "Production, Manufacturing, Materials, and Recycling." This revised roadmap is organized by these areas.

Technology Roadmap (2018 Edition)
Each Technical Committee under the Technology Board has created a technology roadmap outlining the technological challenges for the medium-term (2030) and long-term (2050) phases. In creating this roadmap, a liaison committee was established to deliberate and consider the unique and shared areas of each committee, and this roadmap is compiled by these areas.
