Technological development is progressing in all areas of mobility. This special feature focuses on the theme of "special vehicles," and introduces the latest technological advances and their social impact through articles from a variety of fields. We hope this will provide an opportunity to consider the potential of special vehicles in the transportation infrastructure of the future, including "personal vehicles," "work vehicles," "vehicles suitable for special environments," and "rail vehicles."
