"Latest trends in steel technology and steel component integration technologyNippon Steel Corporation Mr. Koichi Sato

As automobiles become more electric, automotive parts and manufacturing processes are undergoing major changes. Traditionally, steel has been used in many automotive parts, contributing to weight reduction and high performance.

In this presentation, I will introduce the characteristics of steel amid these changes and discuss the possibilities for automotive parts and manufacturing that take advantage of the properties of steel.

Specifically, we will introduce the latest trends in steel sheets and processing technology, as well as efforts to reduce the number of parts (integration) using steel.

"Characteristics of Aluminum Alloy Sheets for Automobiles and Initiatives to Reduce CO2 Emissions Kobe Steel, Ltd. Mr. Ryutaro Akiyoshi

The use of aluminum alloys as a material for reducing the weight of automobile bodies is increasing.

In this presentation, we will introduce the material characteristics of aluminum alloy sheets, which are used for automobile exterior panels, etc.

We will also introduce examples of aluminum alloy sheet and applied technologies aimed at achieving carbon neutrality, which is attracting global attention.

"Development of an accelerated weather resistance test method with high market reproducibility" by Ken Matsuda, Kansai Paint Co., Ltd.

Light, water, and heat are the three major factors that cause material deterioration when exposed to the outdoors, but the influence of pollutants (acids, salts, and dust) is also a factor. The accelerated testing method that we came up with is a combination of "seeding of pollutants" and "light irradiation by xenon accelerated testing," and has been standardized by ISO and other standards.

Compared to existing accelerated weathering tests, this method dramatically improves the reproducibility of coating film deterioration during outdoor exposure and also makes it possible to shorten the test time. This article discusses its overview and the material deterioration mechanism.
