About the cost

Regular member

Admission fee 600 Yen (tax exempt)

Membership fee 8,400 yen/year (tax exempt)

Student member

Admission fee 300 Yen (tax exempt)

Membership fee 3,600 yen/year (tax exempt)

  1. For the first year of membership, the annual membership fee will be prorated on a monthly basis.
    Example: Regular member joining in October: admission fee 10 yen, membership fee 600 yen (@4,200 yen x 700 months [from October to March] = 6 yen)
  2. From the following year of the enrollment year, we ask that you pay the annual membership fee in one lump sum by the end of July every year, unless you request to withdraw from membership. (Membership Rules Article 4)
  3. If you wish to change your membership status for the next year (change from student member to regular member, withdrawal, etc.), please complete the procedure by 3th, March.
  4. Please note that the final deadline for applications for withdrawal within the fiscal year is 3th, March of each year.
  5. Please note that we will not refund the membership fee you paid.

*The membership fees collected from you will be used for various projects such as the publication and development of Journal of Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, as well as spring and autumn conferences and symposiums.

    At the exhibition, domestic and international people and companies involved in the automobile industry can exchange cutting-edge technological information.
    At academic lectures, domestic and international researchers and engineers give lectures on the latest research results. We widely disseminate the results of our surveys and research through symposiums, forums, and public committees.

    In order to foster future engineers, we run events to get children interested in automobile-related fields, competitions for students aiming to enter automobile-related fields, and courses to support young engineers.

    We have an award system for engineers, researchers, and students for their outstanding research achievements, including the JSAE Award. We also award awards to those who have made significant contributions to our business.

    We hold (co-sponsor) international conferences in specialized fields.
    There are also many participants from various countries in other events and courses.

    We have organized a committee and are deliberating the creation of international standards, ISO/IEC, and the establishment and revision of national standards, JIS, and group standards, JASO.

How to join

The followings are the application process and frequently asked questions regarding applications.
Please be sure to check this information before applying.

*Membership applications close on the 20th of each month, and membership will be accepted on the 1st of the following month.

    Fill out the membership application form & apply

    First, we will send a membership application form to the email address you registered.
    Please fill in the required information and apply.

  • STEP2

    Examination of membership registration

    The secretariat will confirm your application.

  • STEP3

    Registration approval

    After approving your application, we will send information such as your membership number to your registered email address.

  • STEP4

    member ID

    You can check your electronic membership card from My Menu.

Frequently asked questions regarding application

What is a group member?

Individual members are eligible for membership as individual members, but depending on their place of work, they may be called ``individual members treated as a group,'' where administrative procedures related to membership, such as distributing copies of the journal, are handled collectively through the company contact person (group administrative person).
If you would like to register as a group, please check the list below and contact the relevant department.

[Group treatment]
A member treated as a group is defined as a member group in which there are, in principle, five or more members enrolled in the same workplace, and a liaison secretary is appointed from among the enrolled members to collectively handle administrative procedures, etc. related to the members.

[About joint use of personal information]
The person in charge of group affairs will jointly use the personal information of members belonging to the group system or applicants for membership with the Association as follows.

  1. Procedures for joining, withdrawing, and transferring
  2. Distribution of membership cards
  3. Distribution and collection of delegate election ballots
  4. Sending DMs and e-mail magazines regarding spring/autumn conferences, symposiums, and other events hosted by the Society and its branches.
  5. Operations related to payment, collection, and remittance of membership fees
  6. Other liaison work between JSAE and members

I would like to know how to pay the membership fee.

There are three ways to pay membership fees: bank transfer, credit card, and bank transfer.
Please use bank transfer or credit card payment, which does not require any fees.

About bank transfer
Fund transfers are available at both banks and post offices.

About transfer (postal payment)
We will send you a post office payment slip along with your membership fee invoice. (There is no transfer fee.)
Bank transfer is also possible, but you will be responsible for the transfer fee.

Please print out the "Deposit Account Transfer Request Form" above, fill out the necessary information, affix your seal, and mail it to the General Affairs Division of the Management Planning Group. Please be sure to refer to the entry examples.

If you are applying for membership, select credit card to pay your membership fee and a page will appear where you can enter your credit card information.
If you are a current member, please register from the member's My Page "Web Payment".
Please note that if the bill amount is 1 yen or more, you can enter credit card information.
*We have received cases where credit card information cannot be registered in environments with strong security, such as companies.
 In that case, please use your smartphone or home PC in an environment that is not affected by company security.

The commission is free.

I have applied for membership, but there is an event I would like to attend before it is approved. Can I participate with a member discount?

Those who are currently applying for membership can also participate at the member price.
Please select "Currently applying for membership" when applying for each event.

I have been a member in the past and would like to become a member again.

1. Resurrection membership
If it has been less than 6 months since your last cancellation, your membership number will continue and be reinstated.
If you wish to do so, please contact the secretariat.

2. New membership
If the period is outside of the above period, new membership applications will be accepted. Please note that if you have been in arrears with your membership fees in the past, your membership will only be processed after payment is confirmed.

Please tell me the procedure if I want to change my payment method.

You can apply to change your payment method from your member's My Page.
Due to the timing of changes being reflected, the previous payment method may be applied, so if you wish to change, please apply as soon as possible.

I am an individual member, could you please create a receipt for my membership fee?

Receipts can be issued from My Page.
Please contact us if you need a handwritten or specified format.

I am unable to enter credit card information for membership fees through "web payment".

Due to security concerns at your workplace, you may not be able to enter your credit card information.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but please try inputting from your home PC or smartphone.

There is no "web payment" item on My Page.

The "web payment" item will only be displayed if you have registered as a credit card payment method for your membership fee. Please access it again after applying to change your payment method.
(It may take some time for approval)
Please also note that you will not be able to enter your card information if the membership fee has not been incurred.
