2024 Tournament Overview

Tournament concept

As a new technology field called CASE becomes the center of competition in the automobile industry, there is a shortage of AI and IT engineers, and the need for them is rapidly increasing throughout the automobile industry.
As a new initiative to discover and develop engineers who will lead the automotive industry in the future, we will hold an international competition to compete in AI technology for autonomous driving.
Using this competition, which is held in cooperation between industry, government, and academia, as a starting point, we aim to build a framework that will contribute to the further development of the automobile industry.

About class

In order to make this tournament even more valuable, in addition to the ``Challenge Class,'' which will carry out simulation qualifying rounds as usual, we will also have an ``Advanced Class,'' which will provide participants with more opportunities to experience real vehicles.

The Challenge Class is an easy class to participate in, even for those who are experiencing autonomous driving for the first time. As in the past, anyone can participate through public recruitment. Participants will participate in a preliminary round using a simulation, and 10 teams will be selected to advance to the semi-finals and beyond based on their results in the preliminary round.

The Advanced Class is a class for advanced players, mainly for those who have achieved excellent results in past competitions. Participating teams will be given many opportunities to use actual vehicles and aim for more advanced autonomous driving. Participating teams will be determined by the management based on their performance in past tournaments, etc.

Teams participating in this class will be exempt from qualifying. In addition, in the finals, scoring and ranking will be done separately from the challenge class.

Participation qualifications/participation fee

  • There are no restrictions on students or working adults for the challenge class. Participation fee is free.
  • Participation is by team (no limit on number of people, one person is also accepted).

Recognition

*For the Advanced Class, we would like the teams to focus on vehicle integration, so in addition to the above table, we will provide support up to a maximum of 5 yen to all teams that publicize, spread, and publicize their efforts..
