Vehicle inspection: Wednesday, September 2007, 9, 12:8am

In order to proceed to the dynamic inspection, the vehicle must pass all inspection items (technical inspection/tilt test/noise test/brake test).
This year, 58 teams passed technical inspection, and 54 teams passed all vehicle inspections.

technical inspection

Inspection of vehicle safety and design requirements to ensure compliance with regulations.

An inspection sticker is affixed to the vehicle after passing the technical inspection, tilt and noise test, and brake test.
Once you have all three stickers and the logo is complete, you can move on to the dynamic judging.

A photo of the joyous team members gathering for the technical inspection to celebrate passing the difficult test.
The first step towards dynamic auditing!

Tilt Test

The vehicle is tilted up to 60 degrees to check for fuel leakage and capsizing.

Noise Test

Confirmed that exhaust noise is below 110dB.

Brake Test

Check for all 4 wheels locking with full braking.
The final part of the vehicle inspection is the brake test. With all three vehicle inspection stickers in hand, it's time to move on to the dynamic inspection!

Static Examination: Wednesday, September 2007, 9, 12:8am

Static reviews include cost reviews, presentation reviews, and design reviews.

Cost Review

The aim is to teach participants that budgets and costs are important factors in carrying out production activities.
The manufacturing cost of the vehicle is less than US$25,000. The cost report submitted by the deadline will be reviewed for cost accuracy and compatibility with the vehicle.

Presentation Review

This is a hypothetical situation in which the design of a new vehicle meets the needs of the amateur weekend racing market and the manufacturer's executives must be convinced that the vehicle can be manufactured and sold at a profit. Students' presentation skills will be evaluated.
Since the presentation was set up to be given to executives of a manufacturing company, students had to wear suits to take part in the judging.

Design Review

Based on the design documents and vehicle submitted in advance, the applicants will be evaluated on what technologies they have adopted and what they have devised, and whether the technologies they have adopted are marketable and appropriate. Specifically, there will be an oral examination on the appropriateness of the design of the vehicle body and components, as well as its innovativeness, workability, repairability, and assembly.

Dynamic review

Dynamic judging includes Acceleration, Skid Pad, Autocross and Endurance.

Acceleration Thursday, September 2007, 9, 13:8am

Acceleration from 0 to 75m. Two drivers from each team will run twice, for a total of four times, and compete for the fastest time.
In the 5th tournament, 28 teams that have passed vehicle inspections up to this point will take on the challenge!

Skidpad September 2007, 9 (Thursday) 13:8

Cornering performance is evaluated on a figure-8 course. Two drivers from each team drive twice, for a total of four times, and compete against each other for time.
In the fifth tournament, 5 teams participated.

Autocross September 2007th, 9 (Thursday) 13:13~

The race involves two laps of a course that is approximately 1m long and includes straights, turns, slaloms, chicanes, etc.
Each team's two drivers will drive twice, for a total of four times, and compete for the best time.
In the fifth tournament, 5 teams participated.

Endurance: Friday, September 2007th and Saturday, September 9th, 14, 15:8am

The race involves 24 laps of a circuit that includes straights, turns, slaloms, chicanes, etc. The aim is to evaluate the car's overall performance and reliability.
The course length is approximately 900m. Fuel economy is evaluated based on fuel consumption during endurance.
The judging took place over two days, September 9th and 14th, starting in order of autocross times.
On the first day, 1 teams raced until sunset, and on the second day, 35 teams raced.
Endurance, which can be considered the main event of the dynamic judging, is allotted the highest number of points of all events, 350 points (plus 50 points for fuel efficiency).
Each team demonstrated the results of their efforts over the past year in a time trial that lasted approximately 30 minutes.

Design Final, Group Photo and Award Ceremony

Design Final: Saturday, September 2007, 9, 15:11am

The top five teams from the first day's design judging will compete in the final judging on the last day, which will determine their final ranking in the design judging.
The five teams that advanced to the design finals in the fifth competition were from Sophia University, Nagoya University, Tokyo Denki University, Kanazawa University, and Keio University.

Group photo and award ceremony: Saturday, September 2007, 9, 15:13

A group photograph and an awards ceremony were held one after the other, bringing the four-day tournament to a close after much fierce competition.
It was an emotional finale for both the players and the event staff.
To all the team, staff and spectators who came to watch, we look forward to seeing you again next year.
