FAST-zero - International Symposium on Future Active Safety Technology toward zero traffic accidents
The biennial conference cycle FAST-zero (International Symposium on Future Active Safety Technology toward Zero-Traffic-Accidents) was created in 2011 at the initiative of Japanese academics and takes place in odd years alternating with the AVEC (International Symposium on Advanced Vehicle Control) symposium. The symposium focuses on various scientific and social approaches which contribute to the development of preventive safety technology with the aim of zeroing traffic accidents. This conference historically brings together around 200 participants of active safety engineering experts and around one hundred papers are presented. Up to now, there are more than 700 scientific papers published from FAST-zero symposia. The participation of Japanese academics and industrials is always significant, even when FAST-zero was held outside Japan. As the tradition of FAST-zero, the symposium takes place over 3 days and will be supplemented by technical visits. As the history of FAST-zero Symposia, after the first symposium in Tokyo, FAST-zero was biennially organized in Nagoya (Japan), Gothenburg (Sweden), Nara (Japan), Virginia (USA), Kanazawa (Japan). FAST-zero symposium has now been recognized as one of attractive places to discuss new technologies and strategies to improve the safety of mobility society.
