Autonomous and automated driving technologies for automobiles are being actively developed for practical use, and efforts to commercialize them have already begun. These innovations in automobile technology are beginning to have a major impact on the very nature of automobile technology, not only on technologies related to autonomous and automated driving (driving), but also on in-vehicle devices that connect people and cars, and on new services that are made possible by cars communicating with their surroundings. In this forum, two technical committees, one for electronics and one for automated driving technology, will jointly discuss technologies that allow cars to think for themselves and cooperate with drivers and their surroundings, which are necessary to realize safe and reliable autonomous and automated driving, introduce near-future technologies and their possibilities, and consider future directions.
