JSAE has revised JASO Technical Paper TP18004, "Classification and Definition of Levels of Automotive Driving Automation Systems," as a Japanese reference translation to conform to the latest edition of the original SAE J3016‗202104. The revised translation was published on March 2022, 3, and is available free of charge on its website from today.

This technical paper is a Japanese reference translation of SAE J3016: Taxonomy and Definitions for Terms Related to Driving Automation Systems for On-Road Motor Vehicles, which is widely known as the autonomous driving level definition, and is published by the Society's ITS Standardization Committee (TC204). / The Japanese translation was created and reviewed by the Driving Control Subcommittee (WG14), and supervised by the Autonomous Driving Standardization Study Group.

Semiconductors and electronic components for automobiles are increasingly being adopted in response to CASE, and have become important parts that support the marketability of automobiles. Therefore, in the event of a sudden disaster or disruption of the global supply and demand balance, such as the effects of the recent coronavirus pandemic, efficient parts replacement is required to continue automobile production. This time, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (General Incorporated Association) has created a basic outline of the applicable products and process change procedures after exchanging opinions with domestic and overseas ECU manufacturers/semiconductor manufacturers. The subcommittee compiled this technical paper as a standard guideline for maintaining and strengthening the supply chain of car manufacturers, ECU manufacturers, and semiconductor manufacturers.

★★Some of the appendices were revised in March 2023. The main contents are supplementary additions, expression revisions, and typo corrections. We have also added a FAQ (Japanese version) regarding the appendix.
