Fatigue Design and Evaluation Committee

1.Aim of activity

We investigate and research fatigue reliability technology necessary to promote higher performance and lighter weight in automobile structures and contribute to the development of efficient automobiles. Through this activity, we will contribute to improving technological capabilities not only in the automobile industry but also in related industries.

2.Chairman/Secretary (2024-25)

Chairman Shinji Hashimura (Shibaura Institute of Technology)
Secretary
  • Takuma Kawamura (Toyota Motor Corporation)
  • Takuya Yuasa (Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.)

3.Main target areas/matters

  • fatigue
  • Joining/Joining/Welding
  • adhesive
  • load simulation
  • Weight saving
  • Strength/rigidity/abrasion resistance
  • Test/Evaluation
  • Reliability/robust design
  • Vehicle structure/body design
  • Structural member analysis

4. Volunteer activities

In order to ensure the reliability of automobile structures while reducing weight and shortening development times, participating companies will conduct joint research into the fatigue reliability of vehicle body structures (including chassis) focusing on "load = road input" and "strength = fatigue evaluation of joints" to advance fatigue design and evaluation technology. Continuing on from last year, this year will see research into "strength" on CFRP, which has been attracting attention as a lightweight material, and adhesive bonding, the application of which is expanding as a dissimilar material bond, and research into road input in response to market changes on "load." Furthermore, this year will see the results of the WG's activities being shared with members through the JSAE Annual Congress (Spring) OS.
