Vehicle Aerodynamics Committee

1.Aim of activity

Focusing on aerodynamic performance improvement technology and aerodynamic noise reduction technology, we will actively exchange information between researchers from universities and research institutes and engineers from related companies. Furthermore, by conducting collaborative work through the working group, the aim is to improve technology and share knowledge in the same field among automobile manufacturers and related manufacturers.

2.Chairman/Secretary (2024-25)

Chairman Kota Fukuda (Tokai University)
Secretary
  • Hiroyuki Abe (Isuzu Motors Ltd.)
  • Akiyoshi Iida (Toyohashi University of Technology)
  • Daisuke Nakamura (Honda Motor Co., Ltd.)
  • Atsushi Miura (Suzuki Motor Corporation)

3.Main target areas/matters

  • wind noise
  • Modal analysis/transmission path analysis/fluid noise analysis
  • Vehicle body/engine/intake and exhaust system/parts elements
  • Aerodynamic performance/aerodynamic noise
  • CFD (computational fluid dynamics)
  • wind tunnel test
  • Train

4. Volunteer activities

Plan to provide topics tailored to the needs of the committee at every bimonthly committee meeting.
A wind tunnel tour will be held to deepen knowledge of aerodynamic technology and aerodynamic noise technology.
Increase the competitiveness of domestic automobile aerodynamics-related technology by promoting technology exchange between industry and academia through working group activities.
Contribute to technology improvement by holding symposiums to introduce and discuss the latest trends in fluid technology.
We will work together with other committees to resolve common technical issues.
