Wireless Power Transfer System Technology Committee

1.Aim of activity

As electric vehicles (e-mobility) are rapidly expanding on a global level, the "wireless power transfer (WPT) system" is an important infrastructure technology that enables automatic charging of vehicles, and is highly compatible with autonomous driving technology. Companies, universities, research institutes, etc. around the world are vigorously conducting research, development, and demonstration tests not only for stationary power transfer but also for in-motion power transfer at companies, universities, research institutes, etc. around the world. International standardization of WPT systems has been established at ISO/IEC, and the standard J11 for up to 2954kW has been issued by the US SAE, and mass-produced EVs have begun to be equipped with this standard in Korea and China. In addition, J20/4 has been issued, covering 500kW (HD-WPT9) to 2954kW (HD-WPT2). ISO/IEC is currently deliberating on the international standardization of in-motion wireless power transfer. Plans are underway in Japan for trials of in-motion wireless power transfer systems, and high-power test courses are being planned and constructed around the country with an eye toward social implementation, and demonstration tests have begun. This Technical Committee will gather a wide range of experts related to "wireless power transfer systems" to exchange information frankly and hold future-oriented discussions, and act as a technical salon to contribute to the national interest. At the same time, we also aim to create a situation in which JSAE and this Technical Committee are the primary recipients in Japan.
