Gasoline Engine Committee
1.Aim of activity
Gasoline engines, the mainstream of automobile powertrains, are currently facing unprecedented headwinds and torrents due to electrification, elimination of internal combustion engines, and carbon neutral policies. However, it is obvious that gasoline engines will continue to be the mainstream, and in order to respond to future tightening of environmental regulations and energy issues, even more innovative evolution than before is required. In order to respond to this, this committee aims to further improve each performance of gasoline engines, including thermal efficiency, reduction of harmful exhaust emissions, output characteristics, safety and reliability, cost, and compactness and weight reduction. We will also actively work on model-based development to deal with the increase in the number of man-hours required for adaptation. We will also focus on hydrogen engines as an inspiration. Through the development of these wide-ranging advanced technologies and active discussions among members of industry, academia, and government, we will pursue the ideal future of gasoline engines, introduce these results to a wide range of researchers, and contribute to their practical application.

4. Volunteer activities
In order to respond to social changes toward electrification and carbon neutrality, the company will basically use the content from the previous year as its framework, but will also revamp its promotional content.
① At the beginning of the fiscal year, we will conduct a survey of all committee members to receive advice and suggestions for future operations.
②The committee activities will focus on carbon neutrality, with a topic selected for each meeting, and four groups with expertise in that topic will provide the topic. In addition, a general panel discussion will be held at the end of the committee meeting to deepen discussion and understanding. In addition, a joint and open committee meeting with the Diesel Engine Committee will be held once a year.
③ We will decide whether to hold factory tours during the fiscal year, depending on whether the coronavirus situation subsides.
④ Symposiums will be held twice a year, once by this committee alone and once jointly with the Diesel Engine Committee.
⑤At the JSAE Annual Congress (Spring), we will plan to hold an organized session to promote technological advances related to gasoline engines in order to contribute to the development of the automobile industry.
⑦ Regarding the forum, lectures and panel discussions by industry, academia and government are scheduled to be held in July on the theme of carbon neutrality.
